Art History's Funniest Bits - Art Talk With Verity Babbs

About this event

What are we missing out on when we take art too seriously? Some brilliant stories. Join us as art historian & comedian Verity Babbs leads us through some of art history’s funniest bits: artists stabbing, shagging, and slagging each other off included. Sharing stories from her recent book The History of Art in One Sentence, Verity takes us on a journey of 500 years of artists behaving badly, jaw-dropping artworks, and manifestos that’ll make you say “oh my!”. Come and celebrate the power of laughing at art, and leave seeing some of your favourite artists in a whole new light. Verity will be available to sign copies of her book after the talk. Buy a copy on the day at the gallery, or if you already have one bring it along with you! Cancellations In the unlikely event that we cancel a session, we will offer a full refund. Unfortunately tickets are otherwise non-refundable. Please contact us if you wish to transfer your ticket to a friend if you cannot attend for any reason. If you have any questions about the event please contact us at art.gallery@southampton.gov.uk or call us on 023 8083 4536 (emails and phones are staffed weekdays 9am-5pm).
