Choral Fireworks at St George's Bristol
About this event
Experience the first Bristol performance of Antonio Vivaldi's exhilarating choral masterpiece Dixit Dominus, only discovered in 2005. Bursting with vibrant choruses and virtuosic duets for two tenors and two sopranos, this remarkable work showcases Vivaldi at his most dramatic and inventive. On the eve of Remembrance Sunday, the programme features two of Handel's most joyful and triumphant works, the celebratory Music for the Royal Fireworks and the joyful and uplifting Utrecht Te Deum, both written to celebrate the end of war and signing of peace treaties. The concert opens with a short meditative piece in praise of peace. The Fruit of Silence is a setting of words by Mother Teresa, with music by the Latvian composer Peteris Vasks. This will be a night to remember! Experience the power of live music with a choir of 110 singers, the accomplished players of the Brandon Hill Chamber Orchestra, the award-winning sopranos Hilary Cronin and Frances Gregory, and virtuosic duets from the superb Bowen brothers. Tickets Β£17 to Β£31, available from St George's Bristol box office online, by phone 0117 929 4929 and in person. St George's box office is open for phone calls and over the counter s
