GreenMatthews: Gaudete!

About this event

Step into six centuries of Christmas music. Gaudete! is GreenMatthews’ biggest festive show yet — an expanded lineup that takes their beloved touring tradition and pours new colour and texture into it. Chris Green and Sophie Matthews are joined by Emily Baines on early woodwinds and Richard Heacock on violin, building a sound that’s richer, fuller, and more enveloping than anything they’ve brought to the stage before. This isn’t a tribute act to Christmas past — it’s a living trip through it. From medieval carols to twentieth-century winter songs, the setlist roams freely across history, pulling out forgotten gems and beloved favourites alike. Add in a collection of unusual instruments most audiences have never seen up close, and every song becomes a small discovery as much as a singalong. What sets Gaudete! apart is its warmth. This is festive music played with genuine craft and unmistakable joy, the kind that turns a concert hall, chapel, or church into somewhere that actually feels like Christmas. Audiences leave humming tunes they didn’t know they loved, having been quietly won over by sounds the modern season rarely makes room for anymore. Whether you’re a longtime GreenMatthe
