About this event
Joining the Middays to celebrate International Women's Day, Dutch cellist and singer Hadewych van Gent creates a distinctive and recognisable sound world of her own. An adventurous and versatile musician, she moves along the edges of the classical tradition and beyond. Her intimate and compelling performances have captivated audiences across Europe and South America. Hadewych has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in leading venues across Europe. She has collaborated with some of today's most prominent young musicians, among them cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason, with whom she worked on the release of his album, Song. She also works with Braimah and Jeneba Kanneh-Mason and performs regularly with Decca guitarist Plínio Fernandes. She features on the latest album by saxophonist Jess Gillam. Alongside her classical projects, Hadewych actively seeks collaborations beyond the classical circuit. Highlights include performances with Coldplay and Grammy-winning singer Laufey. Driven by a strong curiosity for new sounds and forms, Hadewych is committed to expanding the repertoire for voice and cello, working closely with composers on new works.

Convenient car parking can be found in the NCP Central Car Park below G-Mex, which is linked directly to The Bridgewater Hall by an underpass beneath Lower Mosley Street. This well-lit underground walkway gives level access from the car-park to a lift which, in turn, gives access to Barbirolli Square just outside the Hall's main entrance.
Accessibility: The venue is accessible for disabled and toilet facilities are available on all levels of the venue. Guide Dogs are welcome. Sennheiser infra-red system fitted.
