Kino KILN: Portrait of a Lady on Fire
About this event
Join us for a brilliant night of pop-up community cinema in KILN. There will be lots of drinks, pizzas and fun to be had. If you enjoy watching films in an informal setting, with an environment that is both inclusive and immersive, then come along and catch the best of alternative, indie and world cinema. In 1760 France, Marianne is commissioned to paint the wedding portrait of Héloïse, a young woman who has just left the convent. Because she is a reluctant bride-to-be, Marianne arrives under the guise of companionship, observing Héloïse by day and secretly painting her by firelight at night. As the two women orbit each other, attraction and intimacy grow as they share Héloïse's first moments of freedom. Héloïse's portrait soon becomes a collaborative act of and testament to their love. Kino KILN is thanks to funding from Cinema For All.
