Tim's Gallery Tours: Romanticism and Revolution- 19th Century Art

About this event

Tim’s Tours: up close with Southampton’s fine art collection! Join Tim Craven, artist and former Curator of Southampton City Art Gallery, to explore some of the artworks on display, discovering more about the context which led to their creation and the lives of the artists who made them. Each tour takes a different era as its theme, from Van Dyck’s seventeenth century portraits, to the explosion of shape and colour of the 1960’s to the present day. Whether the paintings are as familiar as old friends to you, or it is your first visit to us, there are guaranteed to be some fascinating insights here. This is one of a series of talks: 14 Oct: Tim’s Gallery Tours: Towards the English School of Painting (pre 19th century art) - Ticketing 11 Nov: Romanticism and Revolution- 19th Century art 9 Dec: Tim’s Gallery Tours: The Modern Movement - 1900 - 1960 - Ticketing 13 Jan: Tim’s Gallery Tours: Post Modernism and Beyond - 1960- Present Day - Ticketing Cancellations: In the unlikely event that we cancel a session, we will offer a full refund.
