Handel's Messiah
About this event
The best way to enter the spirt of the Christmas season: the City of Birmingham Choir’s celebrated annual performance of Handel’s ‘Messiah’, a work they have returned to every year since the choir was formed in 1921. Experience this marvellous work, written nearly three hundred years ago in just over three weeks, which continues to lift up audiences of every religious background and none. From the tenor soloist’s opening ‘Comfort ye, my people’ to the resolution reached by the choir's polyphonic final ‘Amen’ — not forgetting the irresistible Hallelujah chorus along the way — attending the performance of Handel’s Messiah is an occasion not to be missed.
