Photo Talk: Olufemi Olaiya
About this event
Join Pompey Darkroom for an evening of photographic conversation, exploring the stories, ideas and influences behind the image. Featuring a PhotoTalk with visual artist Olufemi Olaiya and a short talk from Portsmouth-based photographer Thaïs Verhasselt. A self-taught visual artist working across portrait, fashion and architectural photography, Olufemi explores storytelling, history and the connections between people and generations. He will discuss his practice and influences, alongside his latest body of work, Odyssey of Memory: Brick, Brass, Belonging, which explores family, archives and memory. The evening also marks the launch of Turning the Tide, a new series of 10-minute talks from local photographers and artists. First up, Thaïs presents Fare to Remember, a photographic artist book bringing together 50 photographs and 50 stories from her experiences as a Portsmouth bus driver, offering a personal portrait of the city and its people. Whether you're a photographer, artist, student or enthusiast, join us to discover new perspectives, share ideas and connect with Portsmouth's photographic community. This event is part of Photo Fringe 2026 and is supported by Portsmouth Creates,
