Historical Halloween
About this event
Red Sauce Theatre presents a Horrible Historical Halloween – an immersive family storytelling experience. Step inside the atmospheric Victorian surroundings of Treadgolds for a Halloween experience where you can encounter history in a completely different way. Rachella the Storyteller brings the remarkable real-life story of Florence Nightingale and the Crimean War to life through immersive storytelling, performance and her eerie, large-scale Victorian puppets. Young audiences will discover the challenges Florence faced and the extraordinary work that made her one of history’s most recognised figures. The experience then introduces Mary Seacole, celebrating her courage, knowledge of traditional remedies and contribution during the Crimean War. Children are invited to explore the idea of Victorian remedies before choosing ingredients and creating their own imaginative magical potion to take away. Families can also visit Rachella’s traditional Fortune Telling Booth, inspired by the travelling fortune tellers and popular entertainments of the past, for a playful glimpse into what their future might hold. Combining local heritage, history, puppetry, participation and Halloween atmosphe
