About this event
Young bakers can create their own edible Christmas masterpiece during this immersive five-hour gingerbread house workshop at Cooking It in Bristol. Designed for children aged 7–14, the festive baking workshop guides participants through every stage of making a gingerbread house from scratch, from mixing and rolling the dough to cutting, baking, decorating and constructing the finished creation. Along the way, children will learn royal icing piping techniques, create candy-glass details and prepare their own festive pizza for a sit-down communal lunch. At the end of the workshop, every young baker will take home a fully constructed gingerbread house, ready to display or enjoy over Christmas. What they'll make and learn: Spiced Gingerbread Dough – Children will learn mixing, rolling and cutting techniques, using architectural templates to create the individual sections of their gingerbread house. Royal Icing Masterclass – Young bakers will learn how to whisk stiff-peak construction icing and use piping bags for assembling and decorating their creations.
